Black River Produce Delivery Representative
Black River produce, Northern New England’s premier fresh food distributor, is seeking high energy, friendly and sophisticated CDL Delivery Representatives that are physically fit and professionally presentable to our valued customers. Ordinary route drivers need not apply. We are only considering those that can demonstrate superior customer service behavior. Familiarity with the food service industry is a definite plus. We serve over 2000 fine restaurants, retailers, schools, hospitals, hotels, and seasonal accounts throughout the northeast. Our delivery personnel are the “face” of our Company, and must be personable, intelligent, reliable, and take their work seriously. Our mission is to exceed our customers’ expectations in quality, value and service, and we’re looking for delivery people that will help us achieve this.
General Purpose: Drive a refrigerated box truck and deliver our high-quality, fresh food to our good customers. Ensure accurate and timely delivery. Interact with our customers to build good rapport and sound working relationship that encourages additional sales and continued business.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Pre-trip preparations and readiness checks
- Arrive to work clean and dressed in our Company uniform
- Verify the day’s customer invoices with the delivery manifest
- Identify flagged accounts or special deliveries/pickups
- Daily vehicle inspection routine and report
- Safe, courteous, and responsible driving
- Drive defensively and use good judgment (our phone number is on every one of our trucks!)
- Drive to protect often fragile, perishable products – always secure your load and avoid erratic stops, starts and turns as well as disruptive road hazards
- Be familiar with reading road maps, and/or navigating with GPS devices
- Know your trucks and report any malfunction to our staff mechanics
- Deliver our product to our customers’ preference
- Your product will be preloaded by warehouse personnel on pallets
- Break down pallets and sort orders (usually 1 to 5 orders per pallet)
- Load a hand truck with cases, boxes & bags of product and bring it down the ramp of our truck and into the customers’ facility and preferred storage area
- Provide competent and friendly customer service
- Check in every order to ensure all product ordered is delivered
- Obtain a customer signature for accurate delivery
- Resolve discrepancies to reach customer acceptance and satisfaction
