Black River Produce supplies the freshest, finest fruits and vegetables to a variety of restaurants, stores, farmers' markets, and institutions all over Vermont. Every day our refrigerated trucks travel to the Boston market, where our team of knowledgeable brokers has already selected the most wholesome produce available. Since the market trades in goods from all over the world, we are able to consistently provide the many essentials of any attractive menu, as well as the more specialized items such as exotic fruits and garnishes, wild rare mushrooms, and temptingly aromatic fresh herbs.
From the farmers
We take particular pride in the good working relationship we have "cultivated" with growers in Vermont. We maintain a close dialogue with our local growers, keeping current on the latest developments in the fields and orchards so that their harvest can be delivered literally on the day it's gathered. In addition to local produce, we receive daily the cream of the crop of newly harvested items from the nation’s growing regions. Our buyers travel from coast to coast and to Canada and Mexico see first hand the best produce grown.

While we usually turn over our entire inventory each day, our scientifically engineered warehouse simulates optimal storage conditions during periods of transition. In our six separate climate controlled areas, both temperature and humidity are regulated to meet the requirements of each product group.

Our fleet of 38 refrigerated trucks, all proudly displaying the fresh, distinctive logo of a luscious red strawberry, hit the road six days a week to cover the entire state of Vermont. Our current active trade encompasses a 150-mile radius and is still expanding to meet our ever-increasing demand. Our service areas include the borders of New Hampshire, Massachusetts and New York.
